How does the deposit system work in Poland?
Poland has a deposit return system (system kaucyjny) for single-use beverage containers. You get 0.50 PLN (≈€0.12) back for each plastic PET bottle or aluminum can, and 1.00 PLN (≈€0.23) for reusable glass bottles. Return your empties at any bottle machine or manual collection point.
What containers are accepted?
- 🥤 PET plastic bottles – up to 3 liters (deposit: 0.50 PLN)
- 🥫 Aluminum cans – up to 1 liter (deposit: 0.50 PLN)
- 🍾 Reusable glass bottles – marked with deposit symbol (deposit: 1.00 PLN)
Containers must be empty, have a readable barcode, and should not be crushed or damaged.
